Proud Boys Leader Enrique Tarrio & 4 Others Indicted For Seditious Conspiracy

Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the far-right group Proud Boys, has been charged with seditious conspiracy along with four other members, Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Dominic Pezzola.

A grand jury filed the indictment on Monday.

All five men are accused of attempting to unlawfully pause the electoral count “by preventing, hindering, or delaying by force the execution of the laws governing the transfer of power.”

It is not clear what new evidence has led to the added charges.

Initially, the men were only charged with conspiracy, and all five of them pleaded not guilty.

The new indictment is a more serious charge against Tarrio and his fellow conspirators as the role that the Proud Boys played during the January 6 riot is now being revealed in greater detail.

The January 6 Committee plans to scrutinize the role the Proud Boys played during the riot. The process of piecing together the group’s role on January 6 is underway as more data is being gathered from social media and videos posted after the event.

When the committee holds its first public hearings on June 9, they plan to have Nick Quested, a British documentary filmmaker testify. Quested was given permission by the group to film during the riot.

Quested is said to be a key witness to the events and conversations prior to January 6.

Charles Donohoe, a lieutenant member of the Proud Boys, was held on the same charges as the five other men but has chosen to cooperate with investigators in exchange for lighter punishments.

“We did this,” Tarrio said on the Telegram group chat during the riot.

There is further evidence against Tarrio, including more messages with his group members and his girlfriend.
