On Thursday, new information was released regarding the Oath Keepers, a militia group, and their plan to attack the Capitol, armed with “heavy weapons,” and their months of preparation “for urban warfare, riot control and rescue operations.” The information was released after former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
The ex-president’s potential involvement in the Oath Keepers’ plan was brought to light during the trial. Oath Keepers member Jessica M. Watkins wrote the following message in a text message: “POTUS has the right to activate units too. If Trump asks me to come, I will.”
This is not the first time Watkins has openly discussed her loyalty to Trump. On December 29, she stated: “We plan on going to DC on the 6th… Trump wants all able-bodied Patriots to come.”
She added: “If Trump activates the Insurrection Act, I’d hate to miss it.”
