‘Pro-Life’ Herschel Walker Paid For Ex-Girlfriend’s Abortion, Report Says

Herschel Walker, who is the Republican nominee running for a U.S. Senate seat in Georgia, encouraged an ex-girlfriend to get an abortion and paid for the procedure in 2009, according to a report from The Daily Beast.

Walker has been adamant about his anti-abortion stance throughout his campaign, saying in May that he supported a full abortion ban, which would likely exclude exceptions for rape, incest and the health of the mother.

He denounced the report as a “Democrat attack.”

“This is another repugnant hatchet job from a Democrat activist disguised as a reporter who has obsessively attacked my family and tried to tear me down since the race started,” Walker wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “I’m not taking this anymore. I’m planning to sue the Daily Beast for this defamatory lie. It will be filed in the morning.”

The woman who got the abortion has asked to remain unidentified, but took her story to the Daily Beast, along with a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic and a “Get Well” card that she says was signed by Walker. The receipt was dated September 12, 2009.

Though Walker did not deny the handwriting on the card was his, saying that he often sends out “get well” cards, he maintained that he never pressured anyone to get an abortion or paid for one.

His son, Christian Walker, 23, blasted his father on Twitter following the news.

“I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us,” he wrote. “You’re not a ‘family man’ when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence.”

Walker is set to face off against Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Georgia) in the November midterm election.
