President Trump Celebrates End Of Government Shutdown; Slams CNN’s Jim Acosta In Tweet

Donald Trump tweeted out praises of victory after the end of the government shutdown, and shouted out a CNN reporter in the process.

DONALD TRUMP TWEET CELEBRATES SHUTDOWN VICTORY

“Even Crazy Jim Acosta of Fake News CNN agrees: ‘Trump World and WH sources dancing in end zone: Trump wins again…Schumer and Dems caved…gambled and lost.’ Thanks for your honesty Jim!” the president tweeted on Tuesday morning. “Nobody knows for sure that the Republicans & Democrats will be able to reach a deal on DACA by February 8, but everyone will be trying….with a big additional focus put on Military Strength and Border Security. The Dems have just learned that a Shutdown is not the answer!” he added in a second tweet.

The first tweet is referring to Acosta’s Twitter account, and not the reporter’s thoughts. As CNN’s chief White House correspondent, Acosta has often drawn anger from Trump supporters for his pointed and confrontational questions. In addition, Trump has chosen CNN as his media enemy, often calling them so-called ‘Fake News.’ His complaints about CNN’s coverage of him have made their way to his supporters, who now exhibit a distrust of the network.

Earlier this week, a Michigan man was arrested for allegedly threatening a CNN operator, saying “fake news, I’m coming to gun you all down.”

The government was shut down for three days over a stalemate on immigration policies between Democrats and Republicans. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) agreed on a compromise, and have until Feb. 8 to reach a broader deal on DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), or the government will be forced to shut down again. The compromise is being seen as a win for the Republican Party.
