President Donald Trump‘s former campaign manager Brad Parscale was taken involuntarily by police to a pyschiatric ward on Monday, after his wife fled the house an called 9-1-1 in Florida.
Parscale and his wife, Candice Parscale had an argument during which he put a round into a pistol, frightening Candice and causing her to run to a nearby house being shown by a real estate agent, who called the cops.
On the phone, Candice Parscale told a 9-1-1 dispatcher that she heard a gunshot after she left the house, though she later backtracked and said it may have been a car backfiring. She said she was worried her husband would kill himself.
She also told officers that Brad had been “stressed out” over the past two weeks and had mentioned shooting himself.

Both the real estate agent and police officers noticed bruising on Candice Parscale’s arms that aligned with potential domestic abuse.
“Oh no, did he do that? Oh my gosh, your arms, both your arms, has he been hurting you?” the real estate agent can be heard asking her while waiting for the police.
Officer Timothy Skaggs was the first to arrive at the neighbor’s house, according to records. He said he saw bruising on Candice Parscale’s arm and face, and that she said Brad Parscale had injured her earlier in the week.
Skaggs called Brad over a telephone, and reported that “Bradley’s speech was slurred as though he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and he seemed to be crying.”
Parscale resisted Skagg’s efforts to bring him out of the house.
About an hour later, police officer Christopher Wilson, who described himself as a “personal friend” of Brad persuaded the Trump ally to exit his home. He came out in nothing but shorts, holding a beer and resisted getting on the ground, so officers used a “double-leg takedown” to get him secured.
Another detective noted in his report the potential abuse he had inflicted on Candice Parscale.
“While speaking with Candice Parscale I noticed several large sized contusions on both of her arms, her cheek and forehead,” wrote Detective Steven Smith. “When I asked how she received the bruising, Candice Parscale stated Brad Parscale hits her. When asked if he made these markings today, she claimed he did not. I continued to ask if Brad Parscale physically assaulted her in anyway today and she said no, but he did forcibly smack her phone out of her hand when she was attempting to call Brad Parscale’s father.” Smith misspelled her first name with an “a” instead of an “i.”
Smith added that “it was evident that Candice Parscale could not safely be left with Brad.”
Any domestic violence charges would require the cooperation of Candice Parscale, and it is unclear if that is something she will pursue.
Brad Parscale was involuntarily committed for psychiatric evaluation under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows authorities to detain a person deemed mentally unstable at a facility for up to 72 hours. Ten guns were recovered from inside the home, “including three long guns.”
Parscale, once a figurehead to the Trump campaign, had been head of digital operations for the 2016 campaign and was promoted to campaign manager for the 2020 cycle. He was demoted from his role in July after the hyped-up rally in Tulsa had poor turnout amid Biden surging in the polls.
Both the Biden and Trump campaign wished Parscale the best following Monday’s events.
“This field is tough. It takes its toll on people in unfathomable ways,” the rapid-response Twitter team for Joe Biden wrote. “Regardless of the differences we have in our beliefs, we at the Biden War Room hope that Brad Parscale is safe, is with his family, and gets everything that he needs to get better.”
In a statement Sunday night, Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said the campaign is “ready to support him and his family in any way possible.”
“Brad Parscale is a member of our family and we all love him. We are ready to support him and his family in any way possible,” Murtaugh said. “The disgusting, personal attacks from Democrats and disgruntled RINOs have gone too far, and they should be ashamed of themselves for what they’ve done to this man and his family.”
