A survey by Echelon Insights asked people if they would “like to see Donald Trump run for president in 2024,” and found that compared to December 20% fewer Republicans said yes.
While Republicans 65% of Republicans in December 2020 said would like to see a Trump 2024 run, only 45% of Republicans polled in January said they would like a Trump run. Echelon’s poll also found that 57% percent of voters want Trump to be banned from holding public office, and only 30% of Republicans agreed.
Echelon’s data marks a sharp turn in Republican perception of the former president, as a Morning Consult survey found that only 20% of Republicans favored banning Trump. While still years away, Echelon noted that Trump still leads their 2024 presidential GOP primary poll.
