Pence Says ‘Trump Is Wrong’ For Saying He Could Overturn 2020 Election Results

Former Vice President Mike Pence called out former President Donald Trump on Friday stating that “President Trump is wrong” when he said he had the ability to overturn the 2020 election results.

At the Federalist Society’s Florida Chapters conference near Orlando, Pence stated that it was “un-American” to think one person could overturn an entire election. “Under the Constitution, I had no right to change the outcome of our election and Kamala Harris will have no right to overturn the election when we beat them in 2024,” he said.

Pence’s remarks followed an attempt by Trump to blame him for the failed effort to reverse the 2020 election results. In a statement made Sunday, Trump suggested that a recent bipartisan push to revise the counting Electoral College votes by Congress was proof that Pence had the power to the election results.

“What they are saying, is that Mike Pence did have the right to change the outcome, and they now want to take that right away. Unfortunately, he didn’t exercise that power, he could have overturned the election,” Trump wrote in a statement.
