WASHINGTON, DC - FEBRUARY 04: House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rips up pages of the State of the Union speech after U.S. President Donald Trump finishes his State of the Union speech in the chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives on February 04, 2020 in Washington, DC. President Trump delivers his third State of the Union to the nation the night before the U.S. Senate is set to vote in his impeachment trial.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said former President Donald Trump is not “man enough” to comply with a subpoena and testify to the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“I don’t think he’s man enough to show up. I don’t think his lawyers will want him to show up because he has to testify under oath,” Pelosi said on Sunday in an interview with MSNBC. “We’ll see if he’s man enough to show up.”
The select committee issued a subpoena calling for Trump to testify on or about Nov. 14, after the midterm elections. The subpoena also demands that Trump provide documents related to his activities before and after the Capitol riot.

When the committee voted to subpoena Trump, he responded with a 14-page long letter in which he repeated false allegations that the 2020 elections were stolen. He did not address whether he would comply with the subpoena.
Trump and Pelosi have a turbulent relationship.
The most recent example of their came to the public two weeks ago when a never-before-seen clip from a documentary about the attack on the Capitol showed Pelosi saying she would “punch out” the then-president.
In a separate interview, Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) told Meet the Press that, if Trump testifies, “he’s not going to turn this into a circus.”
She added that it’s clear for the committee that Trump committed several criminal offenses.
“We have been very clear about a number of different criminal offenses that are likely at issue here,” said Cheney, one of two Republican members on the select House panel.
