Pelosi Said She Would ‘Punch Out’ Trump On Jan. 6, New Footage Shows

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) said she on the day the U.S. Capitol was attacked would “punch [then-President Donald Trump] out” if he decided to join his supporters in the insurrection, never-before-seen footage shows.

Alexandra Pelosi — a filmmaker and the Speaker’s daughter — captured the moment for a documentary about the January 6 riot.

Networks aired the clip on Thursday, a few hours after the select committee investigating the attack showed other moments during a hearing.

In the video, a staff member informs the Speaker that Trump had been persuaded by the Secret Service to not go to the Capitol while Pelosi watched rioters marching up to the building.

“If he comes, I’m gonna punch him out,” Pelosi said. “I’ve been waiting for this, for trespassing on the Capitol grounds. I’m gonna punch him out, and I’m gonna go to jail and I’m gonna be happy.”

The newly released video shows how Pelosi and then-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) scrambling to secure the Capitol and resume the ceremony to certify the election that rioters tried to stop.

“We have got to finish the proceedings, or else they will have a complete victory,” Pelosi said.

The clips also show Pelosi and Schumer working with then-Vice-President Mike Pence to secure the building, including when Pence said it was safe to reconvene both the House and the Senate. The proceedings resumed at 8 pm, 6 hours after the Capitol was invaded.
