Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi defended Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland) Thursday calling Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, a “slumlord” in a statement.
“The president — this comes as no surprise — really doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But maybe you could ask his son-in-law, who’s a slumlord [in Baltimore], if he wants to talk about rodent infestations,” Pelosi said.
Kushner runs and owns a real estate firm that owns many properties in Baltimore. The firm has had hundreds of violations in the area.
This comment comes after 15 tweet rant aimed at Cummings by the president in which he called the Cummings a “racist” and Baltimore “the worst district.”

The attacks came after Cummings attacked Trump officials for putting migrant children in cages.
“We are the United States of America! We are the greatest country in the world,” he said. “Come on. We’re better than that. And I don’t want us to lose sight of that. How do you say to a 2-year-old … ‘We can’t find your mother, but we can find her keys?’”
Trump’s attacks are part of a number of recent racist attacks on Democrats. First he attack “The Squad” telling four freshmen congresswomen of color to “go back” to where they came and then mad another attack on Rev. Al Sharpton.
