Former House Speaker Paul Ryan is reportedly “embarrassed” by President Donald Trump and plans to use his new job as a board member of Fox Corporation to finally “do something” about the president, according to Vanity Fair.

“Paul is embarrassed about Trump and now he has the power to do something about it,” a Fox executive told Vanity Fair. Ryan did not respond to the publication’s request for comment.

The news channel, which has centered on the Trump administration and has found loyal viewers among his supporters, has descended into chaos amidst a looming impeachment inquiry.

Trump may face impeachment in the coming months, due to the publication of a whistleblower complaint and subsequent transcript of a phone conversation between Trump and Ukraine’s president, in which  Trump alluded to giving military aid in exchange for Ukraine opening an investigation into presidential candidate Joe Biden.

“It’s management bedlam,” a Fox staffer told Vanity Fair. “This massive thing happened, and no one knows how to cover it.”

A source says Sean Hannity told friends that the whistle-blower’s allegations are “really bad,” while others said that Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch is already thinking about how to position the network for a post-Trump future.

Political commentator David Frum tweeted on July 19, “When this is all over, nobody will admit to ever having supported it.” He quoted that tweet Thursday adding that “Even Paul Ryan was against it all along, we now read.”
