Passing Italy, U.S. Has The World’s Highest Coronavirus Death Toll With Over 20,000 Dead
The United States has the highest coronavirus death toll in the world, passing Italy. Data from Johns Hopkins University shows that more than 20,000 people have died in the United States.
This comes after the United States became the first country to record more than 2,000 coronavirus-related deaths in a single day.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D), which now has the most cases of any city in the country, said that the number of deaths in the state have been stabilizing, adding that about 783 people have died in New York every day for the past several days.
“That is not an all-time high, and you can see that the number is somewhat stabilising but it is stabilising at a horrific rate,” Cuomo said. “These are just incredible numbers depicting incredible loss and pain.”
