NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 20: Former U.S. President Barack Obama answers questions at the Gates Foundation Inaugural Goalkeepers event on September 20, 2017 in New York City.
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden announced Monday that former President Barack Obama is slated to join him in a virtual fundraiser on June 23.
In May, the Biden campaign revealed that they have raised around $81 million with the assistance of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). That amount eclipses all other months in the 2020 election cycle, including April, in which around $61 million was contributed.
Obama, who endorsed Biden in April, said in a Biden campaign statement while announcing the event, “This is a critical moment in our history… We need Americans of all backgrounds and political stripes to join together.”
The campaign’s objective is to raise more than former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg‘s grassroots event in April, which raked in $1 million.
