Obama Takes Dig At Trump Administration’s Sluggish Response To COVID-19

Former President Barack Obama slammed President Donald Trump’s administration on Wednesday criticizing the White House’s slow response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). On Twitter, Obama commented on the administration’s absence of a “coherent national plan to navigate this pandemic.”

The former president admired Massachusetts’ swift response to the pandemic and pointed out that “states like Massachusetts are beginning to adopt their own public health plans to combat this virus –– before it’s too late.”

Obama refrained from using Trump’s name. He also linked his tweet to a New Yorker article, which detailed Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker‘s (R) strategies against the virus.

On March 31, Obama made another pointed comment on Twitter.

Obama recently endorsed his former vice president, Joe Biden. “I believe Joe has all the qualities we need in a president right now,” Obama said in an April 14 video endorsement.

“Democrats may not always agree on every detail of the best way to bring about each and every one of these changes, but we do agree that they’re needed. That only happens if we win this election,” Obama continued. “Because one thing that everybody has learned by now: The Republicans occupying the White House and running the U.S. Senate are not interested in progress. They’re interested in power.”
