At a much-anticipated rally for Sen. Raphael Warnock in Georgia, former President Barack Obama mocked Herschel Walker — the Republican challenger for the state’s Senate seat — over his embarrassing speech about werewolves and vampires.
“Since the last time I was here Mr. Walker has been talking about issues that are of great importance to the people of Georgia. Like whether it’s better to be a vampire or a werewolf,” Obama told a crowd in Atlanta on Thursday.
“This is a debate that I must confess I once had myself. When I was seven. Then I grew up,” he added.

In a rally last month, Walker told supporters he had watched a horror movie in which the character couldn’t kill a vampire for lack of faith and tried to connect that reference with a confusing speech about faith in institutions and in elected officials.
At a certain point, he said he wanted to be a werewolf because werewolves can kill vampires. The moment went immediately viral and added to a long list of gaffes and bizarre remarks Walker has made during this campaign.
“As far as I’m concerned he can be anything he wants to be, except for a United States Senator,” Obama said during the rally. “This would be funny if he weren’t running for Senate.”
Warnock and Walker are in a close race in a runoff election triggered in Georgia because neither candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in November.
It was the second time Obama visited the state to support Warnock as Democrats seek to increase the Senate majority the party secured in the midterms.
