Former President Barack Obama, 60, announced Sunday that he tested positive for COVID.
“I just tested positive for COVID,” he wrote on Twitter. “I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple of days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative.
“It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down,” the former President added.

COVID numbers have been decreasing around the country. Just 35,000 infections were reported last week compared with mid-January’s 800,000 weekly average. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also reported that 75% of U.S. adults have been fully vaccinated.
As far as Obama’s health goes, a 2010 White House doctor’s report announced that Obama was in “excellent health,” but did encourage the President to give up smoking. In Obama’s memoir, released last November, he admitted the stress of his job prompted him to smoke eight to ten cigarettes per day. He quit for the most part after his daughter, Malia, smelled the smoke on his breath. He chewed nicotine gum to help him kick the habit.
