North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un Turns Hostile Towards Trump Over ‘Empty’ Promise

North Korean leaders are uninterested in continuing their good relationship with President Donald Trump, due to the U.S. leader’s “hypocritical empty promise” made two years prior.

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Son Gwon said in a statement released by state news agency KCNA that “nothing is more hypocritical than an empty promise.”

The summit with Trump and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un in June 2018 marked the first time a sitting U.S. president met with a North Korean leader, however only general commitments and promises were made.

“Never again will we provide the U.S. chief executive with another package to be used for achievements without receiving any returns,” Ri said, noting the Trump administration’s history of threatening North Korea with preemptive nuclear strikes and regime change.

Ri also said that North Korea will continue to stockpile its military forces in order to respond to threats from the U.S.
