Former Trump White House counsel Pat Cipollone criticized former President Donald Trump‘s plan to appoint lawyer Sidney Powell as a special counsel responsible for investigating voter fraud and the Dominion voting machines, saying he was “vehemently opposed” to the idea.
“I didn’t think she should’ve been appointed to anything,” Cipollone said.
He also commented on Trump and his allies’ plan to utilize the U.S. military to seize voting machines.
“Particularly when the attorney general has reached the conclusion that it wasn’t sufficient election fraud to change the outcome of the election when other people have suggested that there was, what is it? At some point, you have to put up or shut up, that was my view,” Cipollone said. “Removing Dominion voting machines was a terrible idea. That’s not how we do things in the United States.”

The January 6 committee obtained a draft of an executive order written by Trump during his time in the White House back in January of this year. The draft, which was titled “Remarks on National Healing,” was never issued, but it would have directed the defense secretary to perform assessments on the probe into alleged “voter fraud” 60 days from the start of the investigation. This could have kept Trump in office past the end of his term on January 20, 2021.
Cipollone went on to corroborate Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows‘ former aide Cassidy Hutchinson‘s testimony, which was one of the most powerful testimonies the public has heard so far in tying Trump and his allies to a plan that was aimed at overturning the 2020 election.
