Nancy Pelosi Has No Plans To Subpoena John Bolton

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) said Thursday that Democratic lawmakers will continue investigating President Donald Trump, but having no immediate plans to subpoena former national security adviser John Bolton.

“We will continue to do our oversight to protect and defend the Constitution,” Pelosi said at her weekly news conference.

“We have some cases in court now,” Pelosi said. “If there are others we see as an opportunity, we’ll make a judgment at that time, but we have no plans right now.”

Several legal battles involving Trump are still moving through the court system, including the fight to release his tax returns and a separate subpoena that went ignored during the Mueller probe.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Maryland) said this week the investigative panels will determine if “there is still relevant information that needs to be uncovered.”

“The committees may well want to hear from him,” Hoyer said about Bolton. “But they’re going to make that decision. We’re going to have discussions about it.”

Bolton’s new book, set to be published in March, reportedly alleges that Trump told him that he withheld military aid to Ukraine in order to pressure the foreign government to open an investigation into political rival Joe Biden.

Bolton has previously indicated he would cooperate with a subpoena.
