Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of the Fox Corporation, will be deposed next week in Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News over its coverage of the 2020 elections.
Dominion claims that the conservative network aired purposely aired false election fraud allegations despite knowing they were baseless only to boost its ratings among its right-wing audience — repeating the false narrative spread by then-President Donald Trump.
Murdoch’s deposition is set to take place on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 via videoconference and under oath.
Lawyers for Dominion deposed earlier this year Fox News hosts including Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs. Murdoch will be the highest-profile person to be deposed in the lawsuit.

Dominion is not the only company to sue Fox News over its role in spreading false election fraud claims. Smartmatic, another election technology company, has filed a $2.7 billion lawsuit against the network.
