The mother of the Michigan school shooting suspect 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley texted her son “don’t do it” when news of an active shooter situation went public, said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald in a Friday press conference.
Jennifer Crumbley met with school officials after teachers reported concerns about her son but failed to take their concerns seriously. Prosecutor McDonald said Jennifer Crumbley texted her son at 1:22 p.m. and at 1:37 p.m. his father James Crumbley called 911 about his gun being missing.
He told the operator that his son may be the active shooter. Ethan Crumbley had gotten into trouble in school in the past. Recently, he was found looking for ammunition on his cell phone in a class by a teacher.
School officials contacted his mother, and she sent him a text message saying “lol I’m not mad at you, you have to learn not to get caught.”

The second incident was when Ethan Crumbley’s teacher saw a picture he drew showing a gun pointed at words that read “the thoughts won’t stop, help me” and someone being shot twice. His parents were called to a meeting about getting him counseling immediately.
Two hours after the meeting was over Ethan Crumbley started shooting his handgun allegedly killing four students and injuring seven others.
