Mike Pence Ends Presidential Campaign After Struggling To Raise Funds & Gain Traction

On Saturday, former Vice President Mike Pence announced he is withdrawing from the Republican race for the presidency. He ended his campaign after facing difficulties in raising funds and generating interest in the polls.

He made this announcement while addressing a gathering of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas.

“After much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today. We always knew this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets,” he said.

Pence’s campaign was centered around religious conservative principles and a continued separation from former President Donald Trump after the events of January 6.

His recent filing with the Federal Election Commission shows that he had only $1.2 million in funds available at the end of last month, which is roughly equivalent to the amount he had been spending per month in the previous quarter.

Although he qualified to participate in the November 8 primary debate in Miami according to the Republican National Committee’s polling criteria, he still had not met the requirement of having 70,000 individual donors and had only nine more days to do so.

In his speech, Pence thanked his fellow Republicans for their support. He emphasized the importance of faith and optimism as they head back to Indiana, saying that while he does not know what the future holds, he has confidence in his faith and the American people.

His announcement of dropping out of the race came as a surprise and was made at the same conference where other major candidates, including Trump, were gathered.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who is also a GOP presidential candidate, did not acknowledge the announcement while on stage, but released a statement afterward, while Nikki Haley praised Pence ahead of her own remarks.
