On Tuesday, the January 6 hearings revealed video footage of Former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn pleading the Fifth Amendment to a slew of questions from committee vice-chair Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming), including when asked if he believed in the peaceful transfer of power.
The video began with Cheney asking, “General Flynn, do you believe the violence on January 6 was justified?”
After consulting with his lawyer off-camera for one minute and 36 seconds, Flynn’s lawyer asked for clarification on the question, asking if Cheney meant legally or morally.
She answered “both.”

After another prolonged silence, Flynn answered, “I said, I said the Fifth,” invoking his right against self-incrimination as many former President Donald Trump allies, such as Trump lawyer John Eastman and political consultant Roger Stone, have done.
“General Flynn, do you believe in the peaceful transition of power in the United States of America?” Cheney pressed.
“The Fifth,” came Flynn’s response.
