Michael Cohen Wanted To Be White House Chief Of Staff: ‘Boss, I Miss You So Much’

When he didn’t receive a nomination for a White House job last year, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen moved to grab his attention by dining with Mark Cuban, who has previously criticized the President.

A source close to the issue told the Wall Street Journal that Cohen knew Trump would be upset and call him after finding out about their meeting — which is exactly what happened. The source told WSJ that during the phone call, Cohen told Trump that he had breakfast with Cuban to tell him to respect the President. He also hinted to Trump that he wanted to join him in D.C., and, he wanted to be the Chief of Staff.

“Boss, I miss you so much,” Cohen reportedly said to Trump. “I wish I was down there with you. It’s really hard for me to be here.”

Cuban told the New York Daily News that Cohen may have arranged for paparazzi to take photos of the pair leaving their meeting so that Trump would see.

“Michael is smart and picked up a few tricks from his boss,” Cuban said. “He knows how to use the media to get someone’s attention, even the President’s.”

Trump picked Reince Prieius and then John Kelly as Chief of Staff. Cohen, of course, never joined his cabinet. Cohen is currently tied up in a legal battle surrounding his payment of $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who alleged that she had an affair with Trump and is fighting for the contractual right to speak about it.

A few weeks ago, Cohen’s office, home and hotel room were raided in search of documents concerning the payment, among other issues.
