Former personal attorney to Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, had his seventh meeting with Manhattan District Attorney prosecutors regarding their investigation into the former president’s tax and financial records.
Cohen most recently met over Zoom with Mark Pomerantz, a former federal prosecutor specially recruited for the Trump case by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance. Cohen also spoke to Vance himself as well as several other prosecutors on the Trump case. They spoke for more than two hours.
Vance’s interest in Cohen may be central to the case the DA builds against Trump as Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 to making secret hush-money payments to women Trump had alleged affairs with. Cohen also told Congress in 2018 that the Trump Organization misled people on their financial position, so they could evade taxes or get better loans – this is already a pillar of Vance’s investigation.
The Supreme Court ruled on March 1 that Trump and his personal accountants Mazars USA had to turn over more than a decade of Trump’s financial and tax records. Since then, Trump made a short visit to Manhattan where, according to reporters, he went into his Midtown Trump Tower to collect a box of documents. The New York Post reports that from the back of his black SUV, Trump waved to “a lone supporter” who waited for his arrival.
