Martin Gugino, a 75-year-old peaceful activist, was hospitalized after police officers pushed him to the ground during a peaceful protest last Thursday in Buffalo, New York.
Gugino’s lawyer, Kelly Zarcone, revealed that he has a brain injury from the incident and will start the physical therapy soon.
“Martin is a soft-spoken but thoughtful and principled man,” Zarcone said. “As heartbreaking as it is, his brain is injured, and he is well aware of that now.”
Zarcone also revealed that he is also aware of the support and respect the people are showing towards him.

“He feels encouraged and uplifted by the outpouring of support which he has received from so many people all over the globe. It helps,” Zarcone’s statement continued. “He is looking forward to healing and determining what his ‘new normal’ might look like.”
Following the report on his injury, President Donald Trump labeled him as a possible “Antifa provocateur” and suggested a conspiracy theory.
“Buffalo protester shoved by Police could be an ANTIFA provocateur,” Trump tweeted. “75 year old Martin Gugino was pushed away after appearing to scan police communications in order to black out the equipment. I watched, he fell harder than was pushed. Was aiming scanner. Could be a set up?”
