WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 09: U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Vice Chairwoman of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol, delivers opening remarks during a hearing on the January 6th investigation on Capitol Hill on June 9, 2022 in Washington, DC. The bipartisan committee, which has been gathering evidence related to the January 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol for almost a year, will present its findings in a series of televised hearings. Former Republican Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney aired attack ads in New Hampshire ahead of former President Donald Trump‘s town hall on CNN.
Cheney honed in on Trump’s involvement in the January 6 insurrection, saying the President “is unfit for office.”
“Donald Trump is the only president in American history who has refused to guarantee the peaceful transfer of power,” Cheney says at the top of the minute-long ad. “He betrayed millions of Americans by telling them the election was stolen.”
“Rather than accept his defeat, he mobilized a mob to come to Washington and march on the Capitol. Then he watched on television while the mob attacked law enforcement, invaded the Capitol, and hunted the vice president. He refused for three hours to tell the mob to leave.

“Donald Trump is a risk America can never take again.”
Cheney has been an outspoken critic of the former president since the violent insurrection in 2021. The Wyoming representative had one of the most conservative voting records in the House – but her staunch opposition to the president led to her ouster from her House seat.
Cheney has not ruled out a run at the White House in 2024.
Trump will appear in front of a live audience on CNN on Wednesday with anchor Kaitlan Collins moderating. The event was widely panned for allowing Trump to spread misinformation unchecked.
Trump’s appearance on CNN comes one day after the former President was found liable for a sexual abuse and defamation lawsuit by former author E. Jean Carroll.
