Laura Ingraham Defends White Supremacists On Air, Fox News Issues Statement Supporting Her

Fox News is standing by Laura Ingraham‘s defense of known white supremacists and right-wing extremists on her prime time show The Ingraham Angle.

On Thursday, during a segment concerning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticizing Facebook for deciding to not take down a doctored video of the speaker  appearing to be slurring her words, Ingraham called efforts to get Facebook to remove the doctored video as “part of a larger effort to silence conservative voices ahead of the 2020 elections.”

“What do they monitor, quote hate?” asked Ingraham while questioning Facebooks monitoring systems. She proceeded to put up a picture of eight people Ingraham says Facebook has shunned, people she said “believe in border enforcement, people who believe in national sovereignty.”

Among the eight people Ingraham claimed are being wrongfully censored are Republican Paul Nehlen, who lost to Paul Ryan in a 2016 run for Congress. Nehlen is a known white supremacist, who has been permanently banned from Facebook and Twitter for spreading anti-Semitic and racist rhetoric. Right before his Twitter ban took effect Nehlen wrote, “Poop, incest, and pedophilia. Why are those common themes repeated so often with Jews?” Nehlen, who has repeatedly warned of the dangers of Jewish people, has used the common anti-Semitic trope that Jewish people control the media and has suggested that “race wars” are imminent.

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, the founder of Infowars who claimed for years that the Sandy Hook shootings were a “government hoax” was also among the eight mentioned by Ingraham.

Fox said it was “obscene to suggest” that Ingraham was defending Nehlen. “Anyone who watches Laura’s show knows that she is a fierce protector of freedom of speech and the intent of the segment was to highlight the growing trend of unilateral censorship in America,” Fox said in a statement.
