On Monday, the Supreme Court denied a bid to nullify former President Donald Trump‘s electoral loss in Wisconsin, rejecting the final pending appeal over the 2020 election results.
Trump’s lawsuit alleged that Wisconsin election officials violated the Constitution by expanding absentee voting amid the coronavirus pandemic, which was later denied by the justices. This rejection is the final act of Trump’s efforts to overturn President Joe Biden‘s victory and added to Trump and his allies’ post-election court record, which included more than 60 losses and one win.
More than a month after Biden won Wisconsin by over 20,000 votes, Trump sued in Wisconsin. The December lawsuit claimed that policies put in place by the Wisconsin Election Commission to reduce the spread of Covid-19 illegally seized the state legislature’s power over election rules.
Trump had asked the court to review his claims of election fraud before the January 6 meeting of Congress to certify the results but was denied by the justices. The congressional session was interrupted by the violent mob of Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol, which fueled his second impeachment in the House.
