As recent polls show that Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-California) is likely to win the California recall election, scheduled on September 14, Republicans are preparing to claim that the election was “rigged in favor of Democrats.
Many California Republicans are saying that the state’s mail-in ballots system is rife with corruption.
Larry Elder, the top-polling Republican contender running against Newsom, has already been making claims in an effort to challenge the election results if Newsom wins.
The Republican candidate has recently added a section to his campaign website with the button to “report election incident,” although the recall election is still days ahead.

Elder also has threatened lawsuits against Newsom.
“We have a voter integrity board all set up — most of these are lawyers,” Elder said Wednesday. “So, when people hear things, they contact us. We’re going to file lawsuits in a timely fashion.”
In response to Elder’s claims, Newsom denounced the Republican candidate’s effort, calling it a “big lie.”
“It’s just an extension of the Big Lie and ‘Stop the Steal,'” Newsom told reporters at the California State Archives in Sacramento. “We’re four days out, the election hasn’t even happened, and now they’re all claiming election fraud. I think it’s important to highlight that.”
