Lara Trump Blasts Former Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan For Statement On Trump Trial
Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, criticized former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) for not defending former President Donald Trump following his guilty verdict last week.
Lara Trump, Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, argued that Hogan did not deserve the respect of the Republican party after making a statement about former President Trump’s conviction on X.
Hogan’s statement urged Americans to “respect the verdict and the legal process” regardless of the outcome.”
“At this dangerously divided moment in our history, all leaders — regardless of party — must not pour fuel on the fire with more toxic partisanship,“ said Hogan. “We must reaffirm what has made this nation great: the rule of law.”

On Sunday, Trump criticized Hogan’s statement on CNN’s State of the Union. She argued that Hogan should have spoken up in favor of the former president and that the trial was unjust.
“I think it’s ridiculous, and I think anybody who’s not speaking up in the face of really something that should never again have seen the light of day, a trial that would never have been brought against any other person aside from Donald Trump, doesn’t deserve the respect of anyone,“ she said.
She continued by stating that Hogan did not deserve the respect of anyone in the Republican party.
Hogan served as governor of Maryland for eight years and is currently campaigning for a Senate seat as Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Maryland) is retiring. During his governorship, a third of Maryland Democrats voted for Hogan.
Hogan was urged to run for president but opted out. He explained his decision to stay out of the race in an opinion piece for the New York Times.
“I would never run for president to sell books or position myself for a cabinet role,“ said Hogan. “I have long said that I care more about ensuring a future for the Republican Party than securing my future in the Republican Party. And that is why I will not be seeking the Republican nomination for president.
