Pennsylvania state Sen. David Argall (R-Schuylkill) told local reporters that he supports another audit of the state’s election results in November. Pennsylvania was one of the key swing states that former President Donald Trump lost to President Joe Biden.
The senator, who is in charge of an election committee in the state, said he prefers the audit similar to the controversial review conducted in Arizona.
“It’s a very careful recount, forensic audit, so yeah, I don’t see the danger in it,” Argall said during a forum with reporters. “I just think that it would not be a bad idea at all to proceed with an audit similar to what they’re doing in Arizona.”
Argall’s move will likely inspire Republicans in other states to spend taxpayer money investigating the false claims coming from the former president.

The senator, however, claimed that he is backing another audit because of his constituents, who still mistrust the results.
“I am not hung up on how exactly the audit is completed. I just think that we should complete one,” Argall said. “I think it needs to be independent. I think there is going to be mistrust if the same people who conducted the election conduct the audit.”
