Karl Rove On Biden’s Candidacy: ‘There’s Cheering At Mar-A-Lago’

Fox News contributor Karl Rove said President Joe Biden’s decision to stay in the 2024 presidential race is cause for celebration for former President Donald Trump and his supporters.

“There’s cheering at Mar-A-Lago,” Rove said on Fox News’ The Story on Monday night.

Rove’s statement follows the first general election debate between Biden and Trump. The presidential debate featured a weak performance from Biden, triggering a wave of uncertainty and panic among democratic donors and lawmakers.

The Fox News contributor explained that the “debate confirmed the feelings that a vast majority of the American people have had for over a year and a half – that Joe Biden is too old to be an effective president.” Rove also stated that “the polls are indicating that this race is widening for Trump,” contributing to the cause for celebration at Trump’s Florida estate.

Rove also stated that he believes that Biden’s debate performance will persuade voters to vote for Trump. “That debate was not an off moment. It was not a bad night. It was a reflection of the reality of who Joe Biden is at the age of 81,” Rove said.

The Fox News contributor spoke on what the Americans think of the situation as well. Rove explained, “They’ve got a guy that the American people believe, lacks the physical stamina, the mental acuity and the judgment to be an effective president. And despite whatever doubts they and people may have about Trump, they’re gonna go for the strong leader rather than the weak guy.”

Despite members of the Democratic party publicly calling for Biden to step aside, the 81-year-old incumbent has doubled down on his candidacy. On Monday during a phone interview, Biden said, “The bottom line here is we’re not going anywhere. I’m not going anywhere… I’m not letting up even a little bit.”

His campaign has struggled to dismiss voter concerns about his ability to carry out his duties as president and defeat Trump, with more calls for Biden to step aside surfacing after the congressional return from holiday recess.
