2022 Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake won the Conservative Pollical Action Conference (CPAC) vice president straw poll this weekend.
CPAC is an annual political convention where prominent conservatives give speeches, gather support for Republican campaigns and conduct straw polls of potential conservative voters.
Figures such as former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and political strategist Steve Bannon spoke at the conference this year.
Lake defeated both Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Haley in the VP straw poll, who yielded 14 percent and 10 percent of the vote respectively.

Lake, a former TV anchor and hardened Trump supporter, has yet to concede the 2022 gubernatorial election which she lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs. She has instead chosen to follow the playbook of the former president, who maintains to this day that he was the rightful winner of the 2020 presidential election against President Joe Biden.
Lake is facing potential charges for sharing photos of ballot signatures in an attempt to prove that many of the ballots in November had signatures that did not correspond to voting data that the state of Arizona had on record.
Lake’s Twitter team responded to the straw poll by thanking CPAC attendees for the win but said she will be unable to serve because she is focused on her duties as the governor of Arizona.
Lake has called for Arizona election officials to be “locked up” for allegedly stealing the election from her. Speaking about the election machinery to a crowd at Turning Point USA’s America Fest in Phoenix in December, Lake said “we’re going to burn it to the ground.”
Lake has claimed she is a “proud election-denying deplorable,” an apparent attempt to reclaim the term that Hillary Clinton used during the 2016 race to describe some of Trump’s supporters at the time.
