Kari Lake Warns ‘Card-Carrying Members Of The NRA’ Will Protect Trump
Kari Lake, the failed Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate, said that President Joe Biden and the Department of Justice (DOJ) would have to go through her and 75 million other Americans to prosecute Donald Trump.
She bragged that many of such supporters are “card-carrying members” of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Lake spoke at the Georgia Republican Party convention after the news of Trump’s indictment broke, in place of Mike Pence, who dropped out two weeks ago.
She focused her message to Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Special Counsel Jack Smith specifically, but also mentioned the “fake news media.”

“If you wanna get to President Trump, you’re going to have to go through me, and you’re going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me,” Lake said.
“And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the NRA,” she said to the cheering crowd. “That’s not a threat, that’s a public service announcement.”
The crowd reportedly responded with a standing ovation.
Addressing the immediate backlash from Democrats and commentators, Lake stood firm in her message in a tweet replying to Washington Post‘s Isaac Arnsdof. “I meant what I said,” she wrote.
Later, Lake responded again in a tweet. “I refuse to watch the corrupt political machine dismantle the rule of law in order to destroy their political opposition,” she wrote.
Lake was a vocal supporter of Trump throughout her gubernatorial bid in Arizona in the 2022 midterm elections.
Like the former president, Lake was the subject of various controversies during her election. She joked about Paul Pelosi‘s attack at an event in October and denied the results of her election when she lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs.
Trump is reportedly considering Lake for his 2024 ticket if he wins the GOP nomination.
