A federal judge has ordered attorney John Eastman to turn over sensitive emails regarding Donald Trump‘s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
One email, according to the judge, said contained evidence of a crime.
U.S. District Court Judge David Carter also ordered in a 26-page ruling for Eastman to hand over ten documents that contain information Eastman related to a pro-Trump group on ways to overturn the election.
“Five documents include the agenda for a meeting on December 9, 2020,” the judge said. “The agenda included a section entitled ‘GROUND GAME following November 4 Election Results,’ during which a sitting Member of Congress discussed a ‘[p]lan to challenge the electors in the House of Representatives.'”

Carter stated that the information asked for is paramount in piecing together the events before January 6.
“The Select Committee has a substantial interest in these three meetings because the presentations furthered a critical objective of the January 6 plan: to have contested states certify alternate slates of electors for President Trump,” Carter wrote. “Dr. Eastman’s actions in these few weeks indicate that his and President Trump’s pressure campaign to stop the electoral count did not end with Vice President Pence — it targeted every tier of federal and state elected officials. Convincing state legislatures to certify competing electors was essential to stop the count and ensure President Trump’s reelection.”
The ruling comes as the committee plans to broadcast the hearings on January 9.
Over the past weeks and months, the committee has gathered substantial evidence and has indicted five members of the Proud Boys group, including the leader, Enrique Tarrio.
