John Bolton Returns To Twitter, Alleges White House Blocked Access To His Account

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton returned to Twitter on Friday after a two and a half month hiatus, and immediately blamed the White House for locking him out of his account.

“Since resigning as National Security Advisor, the @WhiteHouse refused to return access to my personal Twitter account,” Bolton wrote. “Out of fear of what I may say? To those who speculated I went into hiding, I’m sorry to disappoint!”

Bolton insinuated that Twitter had to intervene to restore his access, as he thanked them in a tweet for “standing by their community standards and rightfully returning control of my account.”

The last tweet from before Bolton disappeared off Twitter was dated Sept. 10 and announced his resignation, contradicting the Trump administration who said he had been fired.

He wrote: “I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, ‘Let’s talk about it tomorrow.'”

President Donald Trump said the White House did not prevent Bolton from accessing his account.

“Of course not,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News. “No, I actually had a good relationship with John. We disagreed on some things and some methods but I actually had a good relationship.”

CNBC reported that Bolton gave the password to his Twitter account to the White House when he joined the Trump administration, but he never intended to relinquish the account when he resigned.
