Joe Biden’s Election Margin Of Victory Widens To More Than 6 Million Votes
As ballots continue to be counted across the nation, President-elect Joe Biden’s margin of victory over President Donald Trump surpassed six million votes on Friday. Biden has been declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election with 306 electoral votes, compared to the president’s 232 votes. The results were further solidified after the Georgia recount was confirmed on Thursday and the state’s 16 electoral votes were officially awarded to Biden.
While tens of millions of Americans are celebrating Biden’s victory, Trump and his team still refuse to accept the results. General Services Administrator Emily Murphy has refused to formally start the presidential transition, blocking Biden’s team from accessing millions of dollars in taxpayer funds and other resources. Such a delay real-world consequences to national security and the coronavirus response, as the Biden team has warned.
The Trump campaign continues to claim that the election was stolen and has filed several unsuccessful lawsuits in major swing states. The president’s unwillingness to accept the results of the election greatly undermine public confidence in the election system and will allow his supporters to view Biden’s presidency as illegitimate.
