President Joe Biden quietly traveled to his home state of Pennsylvania on Thursday avoiding the large stages while supporting Senate candidate John Fetterman (D) who is narrowly leading his opponent Dr. Mehmet Oz (R-Pennsylvania).
“I’m a proud Delawarean, but Pennsylvania’s my native state. It’s in my heart. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to be part of rebuilding this beautiful state,” Biden said in a visit with donors.
At the fundraiser, he spoke on his hopes to keep Democrats in the majority in Congress in the upcoming midterm elections. He emphasized major issues such as the war in Ukraine, as he outlined the urgency and importance of voting.
“[The Republicans] said that if they win they’re not likely to fund, to continue to fund Ukraine,” Biden said. “These guys don’t get it. It’s a lot bigger than Ukraine. It’s Eastern Europe. It’s NATO. It’s really serious, serious, consequential outcomes.”

Biden went on to directly endorse Fetterman, telling the audience that if Fetterman loses, lower medical costs will no longer be on the table.
“The rest of the world is looking at this election as well,” the President said. “Both the good guys and the bad guys out there — to see what’s going to happen. We’ve got to win. John’s got to win.”
Biden’s visit to the state also included a trip to the Fern Hollow Bridge in Pittsburgh when he spoke on the importance of infrastructure.
Fetterman and Oz will face off in November to take retiring Sen. Pat Toomey‘s (R-Pennsylvania) seat.
