Joe Biden Leads Donald Trump Polls In Florida & Virginia, Only Democrat With Edge

A pair of polls released Tuesday revealed that Former Vice President Joe Biden has an edge over President Donald Trump in the crucial swing states of Florida and Virginia, making him the only Democratic candidate endangering Trump’s reelection.

The Mason-Dixon Polling and Strategy surveys of registered voters in Florida revealed a 47-45 voter lead, within the margin of error, in favor of Biden, for the Sunshine State. According to the poll – Biden had 47 percent, Trump had 45 and eight percent of voters were still undecided.

Florida and Virginia are crucial swing states that Trump would likely need to win for reelection in the 2020 presidential race.  Biden’s lead in these battleground states presents an imminent threat to his reelection.

In Florida – the President is ahead of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren by  51-42 percent, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by a 49-44 percent margin, and Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg by 49-45 percent.

Biden is the sole candidate, from either opposing party, who boasts a positive approval rating in Florida.

Trump previously had a 46 percent approval rate. However, the poll found that 47 percent of respondents disapproved of the president’s job performance. Pollsters administered interviews with 625 registered Floridian voters between Dec. 11-16.

The percentage gap for Biden is also slightly bigger in Virginia – where Biden leads the incumbent 49-45 percent. The other Democrats lag behind Trump in the state. The poll projects that Trump would beat Warren by 48-44 percent, Buttigieg in a tail-to-tail 47-45 percent, and Sanders in a 51-45 percent landslide.

Larry Sabato, the director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, states that although Virginia may lean blue, it does not vote for just any Democrat.

The state of Virginia cast a vote for 2016 Democratic candidate Hilary Clinton in 2016 and President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. Prior to that, the Virginia electorate supported the GOP dating back to former President Richard Nixon in 1968.

The Virginia polls were conducted over the telephone through Dec. 12-16.

Both polls did not include other Democratic candidates, such as Former Mayor Mike Bloomberg, billionaire hedge-fund tycoon Tom Steyer, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Hawaiian Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

Virginia and Florida are crucial battleground states vital to Trump’s reelection in the 2020 presidential race.

The numbers in Florida and Virginia bolster Biden’s central argument – that in such a deeply polarized electoral, Biden presents a unifying force that would threaten Trump’s reelection in the 2020 presidential race.
