Joe Biden, America’s Oldest President, Marks 81st Birthday Amid Concerns About His Age

President Joe Biden quietly observed his 81st birthday on Monday, surrounded by his family, as he prepares for a challenging year with the upcoming elections.

Despite the low-profile nature of the celebrations, this occasion drew attention to his main vulnerability as a candidate – his older age and the concerns it raises among voters about his physical and mental capabilities.

During the annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon on Monday morning, Biden appeared to mistakenly mix up the names of pop stars Britney Spears and Taylor Swift.

He stated that being the national Thanksgiving turkey is more challenging than obtaining a ticket to either Beyonce or Spears’ current tour, making reference to Brazil’s warm weather, which seems to indicate confusion between Spears and Swift. Swift is currently touring South America as part of her Eras tour. Spears is not currently on tour.

He also made several jokes about his age. “I just want you to know it’s difficult turning 60 – difficult,” he said while addressing the audience.

Both the White House officials and the campaign are aware that the president’s age could be seen as a weakness.

Biden’s staff are taking measures to avoid any embarrassing mistakes and show vitality. Biden was given special orthotics for his feet to address his “stiff gait” following his annual physical examination. Moreover, when flying on Air Force One, Biden has been using a smaller set of stairs more often for boarding and disembarking after he has been seen tripping on the stairs in the past.

Multiple recent polls reveal that the president’s old age is an ongoing concern for voters.
