Jim Gaffigan slammed Vice President Kamala Harris during this year’s Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation dinner in Manhattan.
Harris did not attend the event on Thursday night in person, but she did comment via video in which she blasted her opponent, former President Donald Trump, who did attend the event, for election denialism and his recent attacks on Detroit.
“You know, this event has been referred to as the Catholic Met Gala,” Gaffigan stated. “22% of Americans identify as Catholic. Catholics will be a key demographic in every battleground state. I’m sorry, why is Vice President Harris not here.”
“I mean, consider this,” he added. “This is a room full of Catholics and Jews in New York City. This is a layup for the Democratic nominee.”

“I mean, in her defense, I mean she did find time to appear on The View, The Howard Stern Show, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and the longtime staple of campaigning, the Call Her Daddy podcast,” Gaffigan noted.
“You know what I think it is,” the comedian told Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York). “I think she doesn’t like me, Chuck. Do I have bad breath?”
Later on at the event, he pointed out that “the Democrats have been telling us Trump – Trump’s re-election is a threat to democracy.” He also speculated that “they were so concerned of this threat, they staged a coup, ousted their democratically elected incumbent and installed Kamala Harris.”
“In other words, all [Kamala’s] dreams have come true,” Gaffigan declared.
Trump supporters on the platform X soon praised him for his remarks.
“We have a ton of credit for tonight,” the X user @MarketMovers10 wrote in an X post. “He is putting on an absolute show and saying we all have been thinking.”
“More of this,” the user @The__Pentagon stated on X the same night. “Anytime Kamala brings up ‘democracy,’ this needs to be our comeback. She will have no response because she insists Biden is ‘Sharp as a tack!'”
