The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a government watchdog organization, determined that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump collectively earned anywhere from $172 million to $640 million in outside income while Donald Trump was president.
A prior investigation from CREW also detailed that Ivanka and Kushner earned up to $120 million in 2020 alone. While the couple declined to receive a government salary, CREW revealed that the two still earned millions of dollars from the Trump International Hotel in D.C., which has seen considerably fewer guests since Trump left office.
While Ivanka has not reported selling shares of the hotel, her stake in the properrty dropped in value from between $5 million and $25 million to only $100,000 to $250,000. In 2020, Kushner also founded a holding company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands called Kushner Companies BVI Limited, which collectively is worth more than $25 million.
“All told, Ivanka made more than $13 million from the hotel since 2017, dropping from about $4 million a year between 2017 and 2019 to about $1.5 million last year, at least in part due to the pandemic,” said CREW in their report, also calling the hotel a “locus of influence peddling in the Trump administration.”
