Jared Kushner Had Thyroid Cancer Surgery While In The White House, New Book Reveals

In a new memoir, Breaking History: A White House Memoir, former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner wrote that while working as an adviser to his father-in-law, he was treated for thyroid cancer.

“On the morning that I traveled to Texas to attend the opening of a Louis Vuitton factory, White House physician Sean Conley pulled me into the medical cabin on Air Force One,” the memoir read.

In the excerpt, the doctor presiding over Kushner told him that his test results came back positive for cancer and that Kushner would have to be treated immediately.

“‘Your test results came back from Walter Reed,’ he said. ‘It looks like you have cancer. We need to schedule a surgery right away.'” Kushner recalled.

“Please don’t tell anyone — especially my wife or my father-in-law,” Kushner said to the doctor.

Though the cancer was detected very early, there would be a large portion of Kushner’s thyroid that would need treatment, and he risked having a permanently changed voice.

“This was a personal problem and not for public consumption,” Kushner said. “With the exception of Ivanka, Avi, Cassidy and [chief of staff Mick] Mulvaney, I didn’t tell anyone at the White House — including the president.”

Despite wanting to keep the surgery a secret, Kushner wrote that his father-in-law eventually found out about it.

Trump asked Kushner how he felt about his surgery.

When Kushner asked how Trump knew about his operation, the President quipped, “I’m the President; I know everything. I understand that you want to keep these things quiet… Don’t worry about anything with work. We have everything covered here.”
