The House select committee that has been investigating last year’s January 6 Capitol attack for the past year is closely looking into phone calls made by former President Donald Trump‘s adult children and his top aides in the week prior to the 2020 election.
The calls were documented in footage recorded by British filmmaker Alex Holder, who was called upon to testify in front of the committee last week. He reported having recorded approximately seven hours of one-on-one interviews with Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, Trump’s children who served as his advisers Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump and Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.
The committee is especially interested in footage of calls made at a private event at the Trump International Hotel on the night of the first presidential debate because it allegedly shows his children and aides discussing election strategies.
On that night, top Trump strategist Steve Bannon told Showtime, “They’re going to try and overturn this election with uncertified votes,” adding that he expected the election to end “right before noon on the 20th, in a vote in the House, Trump will win the presidency.”

The committee will try to understand if this idea was adopted by the Trump team before the election even took place by reviewing Holder’s footage.
