Impeachment Manager Dan Goldman Wins New York’s 10th District In Democratic Primary

Democratic candidate Dan Goldman won the U.S. House primary in New York’s 10th District on Tuesday with 25.8% of the vote.

Goldman, who seeks to represent the newly drawn district that covers lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, is best known for being a prosecutor against former President Donald Trump in his first impeachment trial.

“#NY10, from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” he wrote on Twitter following the results. “I am humbled to be your Democratic nominee for Congress. I have immense respect for the other candidates in the field and look forward to working with them to achieve our shared progressive vision for this city and our democracy.”

Goldman, who is a Levi Strauss & Co. heir, was accused during his campaign of buying a seat in Congress. He spent $4 million of his own fortune to fund the race. He was able to secure key endorsements from the likes of The New York Times editorial board.

Goldman’s opponents complained that he wasn’t liberal enough.

He beat out current Rep. Mondaire Jones of the 17th Congressional District and New York state assembly member Yuh-Line Niou, who was hoping to increase representation for predominantly Asian areas of New York City, in the crowded 12-person race.
