Identities Of Trump’s Co-Conspirators In 2020 Election Plot Uncovered

Donald Trump was indicted on Tuesday for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The indictment said that the former president “enlisted co-conspirators to assist him in his criminal efforts.”

Trump was charged on four counts for his false election fraud claims and role in the Capitol insurrection on January 6. The document repeatedly referred to six co-conspirators, though their names were not disclosed.

However, the indictment did include important context that alluded to the identities of five of the six co-conspirators.

The document referenced former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani. It included quotes from a voicemail that “Co-Conspirator 1” left “for a United States Senator” on January 6, 2021. These quotes match ones from Giuliani’s call to Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama).

“Co-Conspirator 2” appears to be another former Trump lawyer, John Eastman. Among other evidence, the indictment stated that he “circulated a two-page memorandum” with a plan for former Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election while overseeing the Electoral College certification on January 6, 2021. The quotes from the memo match those from one that Eastman reportedly wrote.

The actions of former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell seem to align with those of “Co-Conspirator 3.” The indictment says she “filed a lawsuit against the Governor of Georgia” on November 25, 2020, alleging “massive election fraud” in the state. The dates and quotations match the federal suit that Powell filed against Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R).

“Co-Conspirator 4” is former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark. The indictment refers to the conspirator’s federal position and includes quotes from an email that a Justice Department official sent to Clark, refusing his request for help in overturning the election.

Pro-Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro appears to be “Co-Conspirator 5.” The charging documents mention an “email memorandum” that he sent to Giuliani on December 13, 2020, about the fake elector’s scheme. The contents of the email directly match the one that Chesebro sent to Giuliani on the same day.

Finally, “Co-Conspirator 6” is cited as “a political consultant who helped implement a plan to submit fraudulent slates of presidential electors to obstruct the certification proceeding.” The identity of this conspirator remains unknown.

The Justice Department has not yet brought charges against any of the six co-conspirators.
