Hunter Biden Will Not Testify In Gun Charges Case As Case Goes To Jury

Hunter Biden will not testify in court in relation to his federal gun charges as the defense rested their case Monday morning.

Hunter Biden is on trial after obtaining a gun in 2018 after he misrepresented his drug addiction on forms when purchasing the weapon. Hunter Biden selected “no” on the federal drug forms when asked if he had a problem with drug abuse. He had previously revealed in his 2021 memoir that he struggled with drug addiction.

Legal experts found that putting Biden, son of President Joe Biden (D), on the stand would be risky.

Key testimony for the defense included FBI special agent Erika Jensen, who discussed the shortcomings of location data. Additionally, Naomi Biden, Hunter Biden’s daughter, testified that he “seemed great” in Oct. 2018, and that she never saw any drug paraphernalia when using his truck.

On the prosecution, Hallie Biden, who was his brother’s widow and former romantic partner, provided testimony. Hallie Biden stated that she panicked and disposed of the weapon and that Biden was using drugs in Oct. 2018.

This is the first instance of a sitting president’s child being on trial. Hunter Biden’s conviction on each counter could lead to up to 25 years in prison. The president revealed last week that he had no intention of pardoning his son if he was found guilty.

The Biden family has shown support for Hunter Biden, with numerous family members in attendance at his trial, including First Lady Jill Biden, Ashley Biden, Valarie and Jimmy Biden and Hunter Biden’s wife, Melissa Cohen Biden.
