House GOP First Biden Impeachment Hearing Falls Flat As Witnesses Say There’s No Evidence Of Criminal Offenses

On Thursday, House Republicans held their first impeachment injury hearing on President Joe Biden, laying out their charges against Biden – but the first witnesses acknowledged that there was no evidence of any impeachable offenses by the president.

Witnesses presented by House Republicans undercut the case for impeachment, though several of them suggested that there was enough evidence to warrant further investigation.

Forensic accountant Bruce Dubinsky, a GOP witness, stated that there was not enough evidence to accuse Biden of “corruption.”

“I am not here today to even suggest that there was corruption, fraud, or wrongdoing,” said Dubinsky. “More information needs to be gathered before I can make such an assessment.”

Conservative law professor Jonathan Turley agreed that the House does not have enough evidence to support the impeachment against Biden.

“I want to emphasize what it is that we’re here today for. This is a question of an impeachment inquiry, it is not a vote on articles of impeachment,” stated Turley. “In fact, I do not believe that the current evidence would support articles of impeachment. That is something that an injury has to establish. But I also do believe that the House has passed the threshold for an impeachment inquiry into the conduct of President Biden.”
