Hispanic Voters Flee Trump After Increasing Support In ’24 Election, New Poll Finds

During the 2024 election, Latino and Hispanic voters shifted dramatically toward President Donald Trump in the hope of bringing about economic change in the country. Now, almost six months after Trump’s inauguration, the support for the President among Latinos and Hispanics is dropping.

The Global Strategy Group conducted a study among Hispanic and Latino voters to gauge their impressions of Trump. In February, independent Hispanic and Latino voters gave Trump an approval rating of 43%. That number has dropped to 29% in May. The overall approval rating for Trump from Hispanic/Latino was 43% in February, and it fell to 39% in May.

On questions regarding Trump’s economic policies, 38% of Hispanic/Latino voters held a positive view of the economy, 26% of independents held a favorable view, and 30% of women had a positive view. 56% of Hispanics/Latinos who answered the survey stated that Trump’s policies have harmed the economy, while 19% of respondents believe the economy is improving.

Republicans hope that Hispanic and Latino voters will continue to support them during the midterm elections, but polling suggests that will be an uphill climb.
